Studying Abroad When You Feel Mentally Exhausted

StudyAbroadMentalHealthLifeInBulgariaMedicalStudentPersonalGrowth

I have been struggling with depression and social anxiety since I was living in Tokyo.

Even before coming to Bulgaria, I was already seeing a psychiatrist and taking medication to manage my condition.

But after moving here, I ran out of my medication.

I tried to get the same prescription, but it turned out that the medication I used in Japan is not approved in Bulgaria. So I had to switch to a different one.

After starting the new medication, something changed.

I developed insomnia.

Now I sleep only 4 to 5 hours a night, and I wake up several times during sleep. Before this, I could sleep 9 or even 10 hours without any problem.

Because of this, I feel constantly tired and sleepy.

Every day in class, I struggle to stay awake and focused. To be honest, it is exhausting.

But I am still here.

I came all the way from Tokyo to Bulgaria, spending time, money, and effort to be here. So I don't want to give up easily.

Even on the days when I feel mentally and physically exhausted, I still go to class.

Not because I am strong.

But because, for now, I am still trying.
